The idea of ”dual” phones, which allow to run two operating systems on one computer, is not new. But what today announced Alcatel OneTouch goes a step further, launching a series of phones that can use three operating systems.
The company based in Hong Kong today announced the new series “Pixi 3″, which includes four phones, all trained to run Windows Phone, Android and / or Firefox OS. As described in the company statement, the equipment is “agnostic” about mobile operating system, allowing you to choose which platform they want to use.
The devices are available in four sizes: 3.5 inch 3G connection only; and 4, 4.5 and 5 inches, adding LTE connectivity.
Beyond that, the company has not provided further technical details, including processor and memory specifications, the key thing if you want to use these three operating systems with good performance. The question that arises, and that the company does not make clear in his statement, is whether the three systems are available at first, forcing the user to choose one to constantly use or if you can make the change from one to another at any minute.
While there is no official information, journalist Sasha Segan said on Twitter that users can not choose the platform but will make the selection operators before selling the phone.
Alcatel also announced a clock ingeligente, which offers a “sleek design at an affordable price.” The new series will offer equipment ue include “sensors and applications that monitor daily activity and that connect to Android phone to control playback of music, take pictures, notifications and more.” It is not clear whether computers use Android Wear or another platform for these devices. Not much to know more about the new Alcatel bets, as will be shown in the CES show in Las Vegas next week.
