Google has been working on compatibility between its operating system for smart watches Wear Android and Apple iPhone smartphone, according to a report by technology website The Verge.
The Mountain View giant takes time working on this compatibility, say published sources, so in no time an update for Android Wear it would make devices running this OS could match with apple phone come.
Currently, Google already managed to get Android Wear work with iPhone through an app for iOS that serves as a bridge between the two devices. The app activates basic functions of Android Wear, so you can see some notifications applications. Other basic features like interface card style Google Now and search and voice commands would also be actividas in Android Wear for iPhone.
The Verge says that compatibility is on track and could happen, but just missing a key point for this to happen: that Apple allows. The Cupertino giant has mostado open to third-party device support – as Pebble having an app that runs on iOS–, so do not be so unreasonable that the Cupertino allow your watch Google made compatible with iPhone .
However, the reality seems to be different. Apple is on the verge of launching its own smart watch, the Apple Watch on April 24 (the presale begins on Friday, April 10). The fact that Android Wear can be used with the iPhon, is a situation that Apple may not want to face while is launching its first smart watch. If Android Wear is compatible with iOS, iPhone users now have the option to buy another watch with Android Wear (some cheaper), rather than be forced to buy the Apple Watch.
Also, Apple and its strict rules for entering the apps App Store will hinder communication between Android devices and the iPhone Wear. Since 2010, Apple prohibits developers to launch applications on the App Store to include in its title the name of a competitor to Apple. Therefore, use Android as part of the name of the app hinder the arrival of Android Wear for iOS.
