Spotify announced in an official statement on its website that one user had been hacked and their data had been compromised. Apparently the cyberattack could have enter a security breach of the official application for Android operating systems .

spotify This is why the company has decided to launch today an entirely new application with different name on Android. The company said yesterday that soon an update to the official app would be required but have finally decided to publish a brand new and prevent people from using the old one.

From today, users who attempt to access the official Android application will have a message that they are asked to update the tool if you want to continue using it. Therefore, it is impossible to continue using the application if no update before we go.

When you access the link to update the application directs us to an entirely new app, named Spotify Music instead of the previous only called Spotify. With this clean slate the company wants to avoid any breach of security that might prejudice the private information of users.

The new application of Spotify is available on Google Play and the Amazon app store App Store. Once we we install the new version we asked to erase the previous app to avoid confusion. This update is a negative result for users is that they will have to re-download their playlists for use in offline mode. As we reported yesterday the company, users of iOS and Windows Phone not been affected and need to update or install a new application.
