Android is target of a 79% of virus attacks, according to the FBI - latercera

Android, the most used operating system worldwide, is the recipient of 79% of malware attacks, according to a study by the Department of Homeland Security United States and the FBI, published on the website Public Intelligence.

The report sent to security personnel, firefighters, emergency medical and police, the most used for this type of virus would be texting with almost 50% of cases.

The research also includes the other operating systems but well below the mark of the Android platform, being the second most-targeted Symbian with 19%, and less than 1% against Windows Phone devices, Blackberry and Apple iOS.

Among the reasons why hackers prefer Android has its “Open Source”, meaning that its code is available to anyone with knowledge of device programming, and its massiveness.
