Android is an operating system since its launch has captivated millions of people worldwide. This not only has to do with the fact that it’s open source, but because it has been chosen by many brands to load on their mobile devices. For this reason, the growth of Android users in the world has enjoyed steady growth over the years and had never reported a decrease. However, a study by comScore, analyzed by asymco shows what may be the first reduction of Android users.

comScore’s latest study on the use of smartphones in the U.S. says the percentage of Android users is 52% from 142 million user who were surveyed. This represents 74.84 million Android users. However, the previous study says the percentage for Android in a sample of 141 million users is the d 52.4%, representing 73.88 million user . With this we can see that Comparative number indeed been reduced. But, why can it be?

turns out that the market share of Android users has been static for some months. However, the platform continued to gain market users while users continue having smartphone and have not decided to change that. But apparently, the new users not necessarily want a smartphone Android.

Using iPhone, for example, has increased by 11 million in the last six months, on the other Android users increased by 6.6 million. While users switched a mobile phone were 16.1 million smartphone. This may reflect that new smartphone users are preferring to invest in an iPhone than an Android phone. This may be because Android has a wide variety of smartphones to choose and probably more difficult for users to navigate through all the features in order to choose one that suits their needs. While Apple only offers one model. Although there is the situation that some carriers are still selling old iPhone models, to depreciate faster smarpthones could compete with mid-range Android.

is interesting to know these numbers and see how they can change if Apple decides to launch a low-cost iPhone. It could be that causes new users of smartphones are decided by this device or start thinking about the characteristics of other Android models and the number of Google’s mobile operating system back to rise again. What do you think?
