The new data from IDC for the second quarter of 2014 confirm the duopoly in mobile platforms: Android and iOS clearly dominate this market and between the two account for 96.4% of market share .

Little room is left for other companies competitors , and even Windows Phone, which seems to be growing so steadily in recent months, it is not clear even for iOS. In IDC estimates that the market share of the platform is 2.5%. Blackberry, as expected, is still in many problems, and has a global market share of only 0.5%

Android has been the biggest star of the quarter with growth of distributed units year on year and 33.3% global share has increased from 79.6% in the second quarter of 2013 to an impressive 84.7% in the same period this year. Apple has sold 12.7% more than last year, but its market share has been reduced from 12.7% to 11.7%.

Meanwhile Windows Phone down 9.4% on devices sold and happens to have the said fee of 2.5% compared to 3.4% last year, which falls precipitously -as expected-is BlackBerry, which has distributed 78% fewer devices and spends 2.8% share to 0.5%.

In IDC do not talk about other platforms (Firefox OS, Jolla?) Specifically and meet in a “Other” that do not seem to have had a good quarter: the distribution of these terminals has fallen 32.2% and its overall share has increased from 1.2% to 0.6%, it seems clear that the duopoly it is more than ever .
