Chevy Auto Android and Apple added to trucks carplay 2016 – CNET in Spanish

During a press conference in San Francisco, the automaker demonstrated how to implement the platform of information and entertainment in 10 of its models.

SAN FRANCISCO – Announced the Last year, Android and Apple Auto carplay are on their way to the assembly line of cars. While each technology offers features such as text messaging, browsing, music and applications, these systems are limited to be controlled by voice and touch pressure to be safer to use within a moving vehicle. Apple and Google will severely restrict the types of applications that can be used while driving.

As in other implementations of automakers, both iPhones and Android phones should be connected to the USB port of the car to activate the functions. During the pre Dan Kinney, director of user interface for Chevrolet, noted how the system reacts easily no matter what kind of phone is plugged in, recognizing iOS or Android, and highlighting the correct interface. The system is compatible with the latest Apple phones (after iPhone 5) or Android devices Lollipop.

Kinney said the need to have the phone plugged into the car, rather than operate so Wireless is a requirement of Apple and Google. Both the bandwidth of Bluetooth connections and the very life of the phone’s battery were factors in the decision to keep the phone connected to the carriage, although Apple and Google do work on a wireless application.

Together the new software to support the functions of their cars, Chevrolet also had to upgrade their hardware, mainly the instrument panel to adopt the touch screens, which will be in cars from 2016 that will have Apple and Android carplay Auto.

Chevrolet provides system information and entertainment MyLink in other markets, but Kinney did not disclose any details about when Apple carplay and Android Auto will reach them.
