While March 31 is World Backup Day, the backup are something of great importance and, unfortunately, many users do not take the time to these tasks. Too many times we remember backups when it’s late and we lost because of information malware , a fault or directly because we have lost our smartphone or our computer staff. Every time we have more information on our mobile devices and, therefore, should also be taken into account when designing our plan staff backups store messages, photos or contacts would not like to lose and, therefore, we should protect.

iOS users have it easy, Apple offered free space in iCloud and can synchronize periodically to keep your information backed up in the cloud (fulfilling the basic principle that backups should be physically remote from the source of information). If your iPhone is damaged or lose it, the information is not lost with him, will be supported in iCloud and, to some extent, give us some security.

However, users of Android devices I have something more complicated when making our backups, so yes, difficult does not mean impossible because the gap that Google has left is an opportunity for many services and applications coming to fill this gap. In case of theft or loss, with Android Device Manager locate our terminal we can try and erase your data remotely but what about our data? Obviously, we have to resort to backup and with the idea that we all adopt this good practice, let’s review some Android applications to perform backups of our data.

backup Android basic features

Although some users do not know, Android offers as standard a practice option that can save a cloud backup the main settings of your phone . Within the settings, find a section called “Personal” and, within this, we will see an option called “Privacy” .

Android Settings - copies of Android Security

enter options “Privacy” ‘ll see a section called “Backup” that allows us to back the terminal settings and store them in our Google account (either Gmail or Google Apps). Obviously, this is not a copy of our data but it is copied settings Wi-Fi networks, bookmarks and data from some apps (so worth having this option enabled).

On the other hand, if we maintain a good contact management (and we ordered), the phonebook can natively sync with Google contacts and synchronizing means having a backup of the phonebook on your Gmail account. If synchronize the calendar with Google Calendar also have backed our appointments and Google Photos we will safeguard all the photos to go by.

DropSpace

Although more and more Android devices launched on the market without SD card slot, many users that extend the storage capacity of your machine with this type of device. In Google Play can find applications as SuperBackup that allow us to back up and store them on the SD card but honestly, is something that is of little use if they steal or misplace your terminal.

DropSpace - Android backup

cloud is, in my opinion, one of the best ways to support information and since in our terminal SD card store photos, videos, or, even a vCard to our address book, make a backup of our SD card is something we should consider. DropSpace is a good free option, an application to perform a backup of the SD card and store the copy directly Dropbox .

The application is free and includes advertising but really, it’s worth checking out. Also, if you combine it with SuperBackup, really, we can do something more complete copies and take them to Dropbox.

truBackup

truBackup is another application to be considered, a very complete application that allows us to back up our Android device and stored in the SD card , at Dropbox and Google Drive .

truBackup - Android backup

With this application we can back up our contacts (important if the local store on the phone), SMS, photos, videos, audio files and installed applications (apk packages ). For a complete copy would have to use the copy of the settings, by default, is included in Android but among all the options, this is one of my favorites despite these limitations.

We

schedule backup routines and, therefore, set periods of time for the backup to occur automatically (daily, weekly or monthly), also copies are smart because we make them so incremental instead of doing, each time a backup completely from scratch (which takes quite a while) and, most interestingly, copies can manage all our devices centrally.

Helium – App Sync and Backup

Helium – App Sync and Backup is perhaps one of the most popular applications for Android backups. This application combines simplicity with effectiveness, not require root permissions to run and able to save backups on your computer (and supports both Windows, Linux or OS X) and also in the device’s SD card.

If we choose the premium functionalities (which obviously are extra), and eliminate the ads, we can schedule automatic backups, synchronize multiple Android devices (ideal for sharing data ) and, most interestingly, store backup copies Drobpox , Box and Google Drive .

JS

Backup

JS Backup is a very simple application with which we can also perform backups on Android. With JS Backup can perform a backup of your contacts, call history, SMS, calendars information, browser bookmarks, terminal settings, shortcuts we have, dictionaries, applications and multimedia content, practically all important content .

JS Backup - copies of Android Security

backup is stored on the SD card (both clear and encrypted) and have the option to upload to Dropbox, SugarSync or Google Drive to keep it in the cloud. While copies are incremental, the application offers an interesting history backups made that allow us to apply restore points and take the terminal to the state that was the day that was made some copies stored .

GO

Backup & Restore

GO Backup & Restore is an application that is available in Google Play in a free option and an option premium with additional functionalities. At the most basic, like almost all applications, offers the option to back up your phone data (contacts, call log, browser bookmarks, etc..) Individually and collectively (with the possibility even combine several backups only one that can remove duplicate content).

GO Backup Restore Pro - android backup

interesting thing, in my opinion, comes with premium version since we backup of SMS, system settings and adjustments applications. In addition, we may also use as storage for backups to Dropbox and Google Drive and, to make things better, we can program performing backups to be performed automatically.

G Cloud Backup

G Cloud Backup is a free application that allows backups to cloud your Android. We safeguard information concerning contacts, call log, SMS and messages, multimedia content (photos, videos, etc..), Bookmarks, documents and, of course, the terminal configuration.

G Cloud Backup

Instead of relying on Dropbox or Google Drive, this application is based your own storage system in the cloud and promises of stored data encryption (256-AES). The storage, in principle, is bounded but are some ways to expand the space available if “evangelize the use of the same” by positive reviews, sharing on Facebook or Twitter.

personally prefer the backups were in a service like Dropbox or Google Drive but still, it’s an option to consider.

selective Backups

And finally, I think it’s worth keeping track of client Android Dropbox which gives us the “auto up” of the photos we took with the camera’s terminal and for which work hard with SMS, for example, to receive alerts or notifications, SMS Backup + allows you to save your Google account SMS and call logs.

 Dilbert Backup - Android backup

Dilbert by Scott Adams

As we can see, in our hands (and on Google Play) have many options for backup Android , a good practice not take long to implement and will save occasional disgust. Backups should see them as an investment of time and, therefore, we must be proactive in this regard.

Please not we remember the backup only when we need and realize there that the copies were not working or directly, we were not making them.
