Android

turned five and consilidó as more mobile operating system worldwide, began in a small company in Palo Alto of the same name which was later acquired by Google.

Google Android OS became the most widely used in mobile world in the third quarter of this year, widening its lead over Apple’s iOS and Microsoft’s Windows Phone, according to a survey published this Tuesdays.

Android market share rose to 81%, extending its lead over iOS, Apple’s operating system used in the iPhone, according to the IDC survey. Android’s share of a year ago was 74.9%.

Android is a Linux based system that promised to all those manufacturers that anticipate it being an open operating system, flexible, easily updatable, and in which every developer could work. So, Google launched the September 23, 2008 the first version of the system, called Android 1.0 Apple Pie. A month later came the first terminal that incorporated this version, the HTC Dream.

With the arrival of the first version, Google decided to call all new versions of Android with the name of a dessert in English. Thus, after Apple Pie (Apple Pie) Banana Bread arrived Android 1.1 Cupcake, Donut, Eclair, Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, IceCream Sandwich, Jelly Bean and KitKat.

Android’s success lies not only in being an open source system, in which developers can create and schedule their applications without restrictions, but also to be present in all devices ranges from the most basic to those with the latest features in the market.

Android

success has led to companies like Samsung, HTC, Sony and even Asian companies that are now emerging in the sector, such as Lenovo, Huawei and ZTE. For giants like Samsung, its Android devices have managed to turn the world and be a true rival to Apple and its iOS system, first introduced on the market in 2007.

After Google has reaped success with Android, the team was encouraged to launch their own terminals reaching agreements with certain manufacturers to create the terminal hardware. This is the case of Nexus One, Nexus S, Galaxy Nexus, Nexus 4 and the Nexus Tablet Nexus 7 and 10. All with the purest version of Android.

The possibilities offered by open source system, the number of applications available through Google Play and its ability to adapt to any device marked the success of Android in just five years.
