Discovered vulnerability that “kills” Android devices – CubaDebate

512px-android_robot The vulnerability of Android devices, which can leave the phone apparently ‘died’ and useless to make calls, has been discovered by a global IT security software Trend Micro.

This defect would be present from the Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) to the current version, Android 5.1.1 (Lollipop), according to Trend Micro. These versions account for more than half of Android devices today. The Android engineering team has not posted any solution to determine the vulnerability

The bug can be exploited in two ways. Through a malicious application installed on the device, or through a website specially designed. The first method can have long-term effects for the device as an application with a MKV file built will cause blocking of the operating system each time the device is turned on.

Both faults are activated when Android transferred media files.
