Intel wants to run virtualized Android within Windows - Engadget

Intel and Microsoft, partners since the birth of PCs, inseparable in the conquest of the market for personal computers. At least until the arrival of the tablets, he began to remove market.

As reported

The Verge , Intel wants to give a “coup” and would boost his idea the teams that run Android and Windows simultaneously. The plan, known internally as “Dual OS” actually looking Android run within Windows using virtualization techniques, so you can have Windows applications and Android side by side , without having to reboot the machine to use one or the other.

The idea is not new, several manufacturers have been experimenting with both operating systems and Samsung even released a hybrid called Ativ Q, running Android on a emulated environment within Windows using a virtual machine.

If there really is a way to run Android apps fast and smoothly on Windows, manufacturers only need to create a tablet that offers customers the best of both platforms. Intel beat the only company able to support such a system.

However, neither Google nor Microsoft are associated with this plan, and could act to stop it. Microsoft has been striving for developers to create apps for its platform, with the plan to unify the shops Windows 8 and Windows Phone. If Windows runs Android apps, suffice to develop the app for that operating system.

Google for its part could also oppose this mutation that could fragment Android’s operating system, canceling access to Google Play Store, Gmail, Google Maps and other applications.

remains the question of whether anyone is really interested in Android within Windows. Although not sell any of these devices for manufacturers could be an opportunity to make headlines at CES.
