Billion users of Android in danger – The Universal

It was revealed that nearly one million Android phones are at risk of being victims of a security vulnerability.

This vulnerability affects phones running Android versions below 4.4 KitKat, which is installed in about 939 million phones.

This information was revealed by security expert Tod Beardsley, an analyst at Rapid7, who explained that the problem lies in Android WebView, which allows applications to display Web pages without opening a separate application within it.

Google replaced this software with KitKat, but for anyone running Jelly Bean or an earlier version of Android, the Mountain View company is not interested in solving the problem.

Due to the fragmented nature of changes in Google, many users have stopped using old versions of software; since about 60% of current Android devices run with Jelly Bean or a lower version.
