Two years after launching the iOS version and a failure on Kickstarter, Björk Biophilia decides to launch Android. All as part of their educational program with the same name.
While Tom Yorke decides to withdraw his records Spotify, other artists such as Björk decide to seize the benefits of the software to distribute their music. And after a failure Kickstarter launches Android Biophilia. So, two years after the launch on iOS, the Icelandic artist decides it is important that the application is available for this platform as well.
As in the version for iOS, Android Biophilia is divided in 10 individual sections, one for each song on the album. The app also includes mini games , interactive art and some music creation tools . According to the website of the artist, the release of Biophilia for Android responds to the educational program under the same name you teach kids about music and other natural sciences. Björk also announced plans to launch a version for Windows Phone that probably already in development.
ImportantThe reality is that it is good news that the artists are trying to sell through the digitization of music rather than trying to fight it. Yes, I agree that there are situations that harm but it is always better to try to join the enemy instead of fighting it (unless you’re part of Metallica). In this case, Biophilia for Android is a clear example of what could be the next step in music distribution. Hopefully over time more artists decide to join this trend and offer us another kind of experience with releases of their albums.
