Android Studio 2.0 now comes with an emulator – unocero

 Android-studio-2-00

The first version” preview “of Android Studio 2.0 did not come with Android emulator which is now included in the new version, and this promises to be a real difference in creating Apps for Android. Programmers have always said that Google had emulator was so slow that in real terms could not be used, even using the accelerator HAXM Intel. Apart from this, there is the problem that HAXM can not be used with HyperV. In sum, the only reasonable option was to use an actual device or emulator as an alternative to Microsoft, for example.

Now Android Studio 2.0 comes with a new emulator that is an upgrade of the previous. Both can be installed automatically from the latest stable version. Earlier versions can only be updated manually. The most important improvement is speed, but this only happens for Android versions 6 onwards and if also you have a multicore machine. The new emulator supports symmetric multi-processing and can be selected cores that are to be used when a new virtual device is created. In fact it can be used to test this feature Android systems that support many nuclei. There are also improvements to the “Android Debug Bridge”, which makes make available an application and copy files may become something much faster. In the best case, the new emulator is said to be even faster than the real Android device. But apart from this, there are improvements in the user interface but not appear to be relevant for programmers too.

For example, a new toolbar allows you to give them things that previously required as options on the command line . You can interactively resize the emulator to put it in the actual size of the screen you actually have on the device. Scrolling or zooming is supported as well. Now you can also do drag & amp; drop, that is, take and drop items (eg files), in the emulator and copy directly to the SD card. You can even drop APKs files (executables on Android) emulator, which makes installing apps even easier. Finally there are some controls with extended functions ara graphical interface to interact with the emulator when running the GPS, sending an SMS or by adjusting the level of the battery.

If you already have version preview previous Android Studio 2.0 installed, you can simply update and then the SDK will be updated and the new emulator in the system. We emphasize that you will notice a significant increase in speed if you have a multicore machine and if you are using Android 6. Note that the emulator still depends accelerator Intel HAXM and it must be installed manually. It is surprising that a vital element in this program is not automatically installed.

In fact, I do not understand why it is so difficult to make a good emulator for Android. If we have systems that can emulate a PC that finally is not a trivial system, I do not see why there are so many problems in emulation of Android
