It used to be a headache switch from one mobile platform to another, but now transfer your old data from Android to a new iPhone or iPad is easier than ever.

The application of Apple Move to iOS, which is available in the Google Play Store, it takes care of the process fast and simple way. While you can not transfer your apps, music, or any of your passwords, it can be used to transfer photos, calendars, contacts, text messages and videos to your new iPhone or iPad.

Move to iOS app works with phones and tablets that run Android version 4.0 or a more updated version, and can transfer data to devices running iOS version 9 or some other more current.

The process

  • On your iPhone or iPad, starts the normal boot process until you reach the screen ” Apps and data. ” From there, select the “Transfer data from Android” option. A 10 digit code will appear on the screen.
    • Keep in mind that if you’ve already completed the initialization process, you need to clear your device. To do this on your iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, click General, followed by Reset, and choose “Erase All Content and Settings.”
  • On your Android device, enables Wi-Fi and connect to a network. Go to the Google Play Store and download the app Move to iOS. Open the app, click Continue, accept the terms of use, click Next, and then enter the 10-digit code given to you iPhone.
  • You will have the option to choose which items you would like to transfer to your new device. This includes your Google Account, your Chrome bookmarks, text messages, contacts, photos and videos. Select the items you want to transfer and click Next.
  • Your Android device will then begin to transfer content to your iPhone or iPad. Depending on the amount of data being transferred, the process could take several minutes. To me it took me less than ten.
    • Keep in mind that although the iOS app recommends Move to recycle your Apple device in a store, you’re better sell through eBay or services as Gazelle. Refer to this guide for more information.

The Google apps on iOS

As a user of Android, you’re familiar with apps and Google services such as Google Maps and Gmail. Several of these are available for iOS, including Google Chrome, Gmail, Google Drive, Google Keep, Google Search, Google Calendar, Google Maps, Google Photos, YouTube, Google Play Music, Google Play Books, Google Play Movies and more.

To be precise, Google has developed 62 apps for iOS. Find the full list here.

Have you had any problems?

While the process for transferring data from Android to iOS is relatively simple, it’s good to know there are options to help if something happens. Apple offers a totally free service staff initialization that is included with your new iPhone or iPad. The service is available in your Apple store or online for those customers who do not live near a physical store.
