Google, advertising, and Android - The Android Free

Google is a search engine , but it is also the largest seller of online advertising the world , both desktop and web mobile format. Google is advertising by definition, the bulk of their income and reason for existing are these, and ways and access to them are very different.

One of the most famous of Google services, Gmail, inserting advertising for many years. Even personalized advertising to you, and recently, advertising even within a box destined for the same Google to promotions of services to which you have subscribed. But not only in Gmail , on Facebook too, the online newspaper of the country’s most important you are, there is, When you pay a magazine, no advertising, when you go to the cinema having paid your entrance, there advertising. Google has to monetize their services, obviously, not everything is free, and advertising is its natural way to do it. Now that traffic and mobile usage has skyrocketed and is the future in coexistence with the desktop web, Google had to make a decision, or apply the same formula as its service desk, or let the mobile traffic unpunished and released alive ad. It is obvious that they have chosen to equate both uses. But this decision does not just affect Google or Gmail, as collateral damage affects Android , because Android is by definition also a mobile OS, container services Google, and Nexus, the highest expression of that myself.

Google should rethink if you have not already, (which surely if) which way you want to give your services now that the trafficking and use has been broken forever to to the mobile sector. Is it the same web access an app? Is it the same embed advertising around the mailbox within it? Obviously not the same and therefore requires new approaches.

Google should provide the option for those who want to pay for not having the publicity or should consider and study what is the% conversion of that ad in that tray and if those few cents per user that can scratch are really significant to dissatisfy your users or at least make them rethink your services or at least, opt for simple and facile solution monetization of a service: Post advertising.

course we can use other mail , and if the advertising reaches more relevant services of which we have, we can find alternatives to all of them, but I insist on the important and binding relation between android and Google services and partnerships that will (mostly because it is the only purpose of android without the Google apps, Android would not exist, or at least Google irreplaceable support, or the rest actors involved in AOSP)

make more sense now the Nexus with those prices 50% lower than rivals of equal quality, but for other manufacturers who use android, what sense does sell a smartphone with preinstalled applications with advertising if you have already paid hundreds of euros? Manufacturers also will reconsider this , if you want to give it to their buyers or not, and seek alternative or incite the use of its own services and ad-free solutions.

As I said at the beginning of this article, there are many products for which we pay and yet still have advertising. Even just without asking and without using anything, going just down the street, advertising assails us. It impossible to determine the consequences of this action in Gmail , but the sum of many of these decisions for the future, can compose a grim picture. There are many ways to profit from your services, Google should explore more formulas.
