Android, the operating system most used in Latin america – Milenio.com

The consulting firm ComScore and Internet Media Services (IMS) presented the second edition of the IMS Mobile in LatAm, a joint report on trends in digital consumption and use of mobile applications, which indicates that Android is the operating system of smartphones used in the region, with 81 per cent, and represents over 70 percent of the public tablets.

The report adds that 9 out of every 10 people connected to the internet own a smartphone.

In the case of electronic commerce, the study indicates that 66 percent of smartphone users made a purchase from their devices within the past six months.

The survey carried out in six countries of the region: Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Colombia, Peru and Chile, added that a third of tablet users in our country have an iPad, the highest percentage of all countries measured.

The mobile users in Brazil, Colombia and Chile spent more time online on their smartphones each week, and 85 per cent of users in Argentina used their mobile devices to visit social networking sites regularly.

"The study confirms that smartphones are the best device for many consumers, as we see people across the region turning into mobile, and that in the digital media consumers spend the most time compared to other platforms such as the television or the radio," explained Mark Christensen, senior director, South Cone of ComScore Latin america.
