Take control of notifications in Android – Hypertext

The notices or notifications in Android are those kinds of things that can be very useful or a thief of time we interrupt unexpectedly constantly.

With the notifications you will know when you have received an e-mail, a text message, someone you have accepted as a friend on Facebook, your youtuber favorite has uploaded a new video or your app favorite has a new version available.

But a bad use of announcements on the part of certain apps or simply by its own nature, do you receive excessive messages, at inopportune times or for reasons absurd, as when certain games you are sent constant messages for you to play even if you don’t want.

See different ways to disable or selectively activate the notifications of Android, in global or in each app, so that take control of the notices and are not the notifications that monopolize your attention.

Silence all your Android device

The most dramatic fashion to end up with the notifications, silence your phone or Android tablet using the mode "do Not disturb". This way you will not receive notice, or with sound or with vibration.

In particular, you can silence all notifications, only to receive alarms important (so you can sleep easily but wake up thanks to your Android), or only receive notifications that are really important.

From quick Settings (by sliding a finger from the top of the screen down) you will see the option do Not disturb. Then select total Silence, and you set up this silence for a period of time concrete, or until further order, that is to say, when you switch them off again manually. When you press Done, the notifications will be silenced and you will see an icon in the notification bar of Android.

the same way you can set up to receive Only alarms o notifications Single priority. To determine which warnings are important, you will have to go to Settings > Sound > do Not disturb > Device > Enable only priority. Alarms are always priority, reminders, and events are optional, the calls and messages depend on the contact marked as prominent and the call will ring if you receive multiple calls of a person in 15 minutes.

With the mode do Not disturb your Android device is on silent but still receive messages, emails and other communications. If you don’t want to receive anything, you need to enable the airplane mode, which closes the connection, WiFi, Bluetooth and your phone. Is activated from quick Settings > airplane Mode.

Another possibility is that you want Android’s "street" at a specific time automatically without having to be you who to mute. From Settings > Sound > do Not disturb > automatic Rules you can set up rules for Android will mute automatically during the weekend, during the night, or decide what days and when to start and finish the period of do Not disturb.

Disable, or silence the interruptions of each application

From Settings of Android you can disable notifications for certain applications, the heavier or those that do not will be useful. In Settings > Notifications click on each app and select Block all or Show silent. In the first case, will be disabled notifications. In the second, you will not hear notifications but vibrate.

you can Also determine in the same menu if you want or not to see notifications of a certain app on the lock screen and if you want that your notices remain activated in the case of mute Android in mode do Not disturb but Allow only priority.

Block, visual notifications

we Already know how to solve the problem of the notifications annoying, because ring or vibrate too many times. But, what if what we want is that it does not fill the screen messages while we are doing other things with our Android device?

In this case, to avoid the on-screen notifications, you’ll need to activate the do Not disturb and make sure that it is configured with the option Block visual disturbances in Settings > Sound > do Not disturb.

Disable the LED notifications on the device

Some models of Android phone have a light that flashes when you receive a notification. To disable this type of notifications we will need to go to Settings > Notifications > Settings > Use LED notifications and mark or unmark the option.

do Not show notifications in the lock screen

Another aspect of the notifications that may bother us is that is displayed on the screen although we have the phone or tablet blocked. Many don’t like to have others ‘ eyes take a look at the messages that we receive, so we can turn off those notifications and only see if we are using the Android device.

To do this, from the Settings > Notifications > Settings > screen lock select do Not display notifications.

Another option is to choose, in the same menu, Hide notifications-sensitive to display on the lock screen notifications of the apps that you choose to previously and to obviate the of, for example, text messages of private conversations.
