Google announced Andromeda, the union of Android and Chrome OS in … – CNET in Spanish

Jason Cipriani/CNET

Google would be by to confirm soon the union of Android and Chrome OS to bring a new operating system, now known as Andromeda. According to sources from the blog Android Police, this would be as soon as next October 4.

For years it has been rumored that Google would join the two operating systems, since that in some way the devices that can be installed are not too different and combine many features, but it is until now that Google will make it official.

however, this does not mean that Chrome OS and Android are going to disappear, at least in the beginning.

it is Not clear what might be the result of Andromeda, but the blog indicates that the project would be focused on bringing features of Chrome OS to Android and not vice versa. This could mean features like multi-window native, better control of apps open for devices with a mode “desktop” and other features, but would not be connected with the current project to run Android apps on Chromebooks (laptops with Chrome OS).

it Is possible that Andromeda is dedicated more to the tablet / pc hybrid, but could also allow cell phones in the future can be connected to a monitor to function as the CPU of a computer, similar to what Microsoft did with Windows 10 and Continuum.

Until now, these features are only speculations on the part of the blog in question — and our own — but the report of Monday indicates, also, that Google would be working on a project called Bison which is in charge of developing a new device that combines Android and Chrome OS (Andromeda) and that it could come with the name of Pixel 3.

According to the same blog, Pixel 3 would be to a computer ultra-thin (10mm thick) with a screen of 12.3 inches which would integrate a tablet mode — through a flexible mechanism, or a hybrid that allows you to detach the keyboard. The device would integrate a processor Intel Core M3 or Core i5 with 32GB or 128GB of storage and 8GB or 16GB of RAM.

in Addition, the Pixel 3 would integrate two USB ports,-C (USB Type C), headphone jack, compatibility with stylus, stereo speakers, a battery that would last up to 10 hours, backlit keyboard, touchpad, and a starting price of US$ 799.

The Google Pixel 3, the report says, would be launched in the third quarter of 2017.

on the other hand, the blog 9to5Google reported that Google is also working on a tablet with the new operating system called Andromeda and the tablet would be the rumorada Huawei 7P.

This tablet would have a 7-inch screen and 4GB of RAM and would be available this year. However, this could be primarily intended for developers to begin to test the new operating system of Google and start bringing in new apps or update their apps to take advantage of the new features that it could offer the new operating system.

Currently, Google would be testing the new operating system at Andromeda in the Nexus 9, according to evidence found in the code of Android Nougat.

it is worth bearing in mind that all of the above are just rumors and Google has not confirmed anything about it. It is best to wait to see what happens during the event of October 4.
