Lollipop Android is installed on 1 in 4 Android devices – CNET in Spanish

Android Lollipop (5.x) is already installed in one of four devices compatible with the mobile platform, that is, in 25.5 percent of the 1,400 million Android devices currently.

That Lollipop penetration is not necessarily positive, since it is an operating system with more than one year availability. It also reflects how difficult it is for users to get the latest versions of Android for its smartphones and tablets.

Android 6.0 Marshmallow, available for now only to some members of the Nexus family of devices as well as for the HTC One A9, just have an adoption of 0.3 percent, according to official figures from Google.

The giant based in Mountain View, California, obtained the adoption rates of its operating systems to collect information from all devices with Android 2.2 (Froyo) on and entering in the Google Play Store a period of seven days. The last period was completed on November 2.

The low adoption of Lollipop continues to check the compatible devices take months and even years to receive the latest updates. In some cases, the devices do not receive the updates, although compatibility.

The problem of Android adoption in contrast to the rapid adoption in the eternal rival platform. In just two months of availability, iOS 9 is already installed on 66 percent of compatible devices.

But Google is not entirely to blame. Android compatible phones often slow due to manufacturers and operators. Each manufacturer –SONY, Samsung, HTC, etc .– should take the latest version of Android and modify to your liking with new applications and a different design in the native interface – a process that will take months to arrive.

Also, another major problem is the fragmentation of devices. The latest study of OpenSignal says that by August 2015, the Android ecosystem had 24.093 different devices manufactured by different companies 1,294.

However, manufacturers are improving their practices. Google just announced a new mobile operating system, the major manufacturers are starting to say which of its devices and an estimated update to this date will receive.

In CNET article in Spanish we have a constantly updated with the confirmed dates for some devices begin to receive Android 6.0. If your device is still not listed, save the link in your bookmarks and check it later.
