currently in Chile have the presence of four operating systems installed on smartphones and tablets: Apple iOS, Android, Blackberry and Windows Phone . How can we determine their use without being complex statistics and percentages?

The answer is an interactive map presented by MapBox, which shows what the most popular operating systems worldwide, determining use in each country, region and city through the collection of 280 million tweets sent from mobile devices. So, The green lights represent Android , the red to Apple , violet Blackberry and purple to “other systems” category in which Windows Phone would Microsoft , launched recently to have massive presence .

At the same time, the map is used to visualize the areas where mobile devices are used, although limitation has to do with only shows users of Twitter , so that the results should be taken as reference only.

As we expand the map, we see that in several Chilean cities operating systems that dominate the market are Android and iOS , where Google platform the most general terms used in preference in the periphery area, while Apple and Blackberry dominate the downtown.

Santiago, fans Blackberry apple and make a more concentrated in the central sector (axis Alameda, Providencia and Apoquindo), leading to the eastern area of the capital, marking a clear preference in the airport . In other countries, United States is a clear trend in favor of Apple and Blackberry (strangely Anrdoid almost not shown), while in South America the latter also has a large presence in Argentina, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia and Ecuador . In Brazil , the red lights also denote a preference for the company of Steve Jobs.
