Fake antivirus hijack Android devices in exchange for a ... - Yahoo! Finance

has to deal with his first threat Ransomeware (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ransomware_ (malware)), called Android.Fakedefender. It consists of a fake antivirus program that blocks devices victims and can not reuse them until they pay under a “rescue” them.

recent years has been expanding increasingly called FakeAV cybercriminals and software, a type of fraud that uses a malware that threatens the security status of your computer. Its aim is to convince users to pay for restoring order your PC or otherwise the malware will not go away.

This scam has unfortunately evolved and has come to Android devices, the company has identified as Symantec (Munich: 879358 – news). The threat has been called Android.Fakedefender by security company Symantec and consists of a FakeAV variant that blocks the device in question as does Ransomware.

Once the malicious application is installed, it begins to change and loosen the operating system of the device to the point that forces the user to reset with specific combinations using software that can provide the manufacturer only.

Symantec estimates that the increase in fraud FakeAV Android platforms and is becoming a problem of the same magnitude as was with computers. The only thing the company says it can do against it is that the app will prevent strain on our device by installing security applications such as Norton Mobile Security or Symantec Mobile Security.
