MediaTek: The other star of your Android with ... - The Android Free

world processors , though often over-simplify, is a world entirely understand complicated even in terms of specifications of these.

We are used now, computer users to read about 32bit and 64bit. On processors that are mounted on smartphones and tablets , however, there are only 32-bit processors (at least for now). Within these 32-bit processors, the vast majority are ARM architecture , there are several processor families.

In this world of portable devices are used, too, to read about a particular family, family “Cortex” . This processor family includes, for example, processors Samsung Exynos , Qualcomm Snapdragon and some others which include most of the processors that incorporate Android devices. Besides Android, iOS and Windows 8 RT , processors that give life to the operating system are also ARM architecture.

ARM is neither new nor unique to Qualcomm

ARM is an architecture and design of processors born in 1983 but did not see his first model until 1985. The processor with this architecture triumphed for its “simplicity” combined with minimum energy consumption. We are talking about 1985 and we are currently in the year 2013. It has been nothing more and nothing less than 27 years ARM processor and Android at the time did not appear either in the wildest dreams of developers, not yet.

born in 2007 Android, companies such as, especially, Qualcomm have been winning this prestigious name and processors. But although many do not know, the Qualcomm processor architecture integrated in smartphones and tablets with Android operating system, is also used by many other manufacturers hardware.

architecture

What we thought had the Samsung Exynos? ARM also. Each manufacturer “Retouch” based on this architecture but, in the end, they all start from the same.

MediaTek

more ARM

Lately, with new smartphones that are becoming known, we are seeing MediaTek is becoming hollow in the market and new models increasingly incorporate chipsets of this brand.

In fact, this April 2013 has led to the company, the best of 39 months . MediaTek has grown from a surprisingly even among its forecast revenue is down somewhat since the Chinese market slows your orders in May.

mentioned the Chinese market, we find another surprising fact that because not only are these who ride MediaTek SoC’s but both SONY as HTC are designing smartphones that incorporate these chipsets.

Why MediaTek is winning? This company is taking care of designing chipsets, eg A7 and provide them with a power equivalent to Qualcomm A9 . So what they do is a lower price and obviously a considerable energy saving. We could say, therefore, that MediaTek is doing what the last step is to bring the possibilities of achieving obsolete chipsets more of these, with its low price justified by the “obsolescence, that power is not left behind regarding chipsets modern. The essence of this is that the power consumption is greatly reduced.

Good, yes, but not for everyone

Given the strategy that I have just quoted is MediaTek, the biggest beneficiaries will be those models medium or low while in high end models who take the best are the processors of other brands and, above all, Exynos (Samsung) or Snapdragon (Qualcomm) and the Tegra (Nvidia).

This does not mean that MediaTek not able to market Chipset to smartphones or high-end tablets , but, for the moment, according to the strategy of the company, all the “effort” is focused on the mobile device industry.

Data

colliding with this is that, this same brand, is developing a chipset for tablets with tetranĂșcleo 1.5GHz processor and screen resolution up to 1,920 x 1,200 pixel sensor camera 13 megapixels and 1080p recording. So MediaTek be seen whether the market tends towards smartphones and high-end tablets or otherwise is “satisfied” with their land , the middle and lower range. No doubt, take the path you take, the latter chipset could be part of leading tablets without any problem.

In this post you have a list of 10 “super Chinese terminals” of which five of them carry the brand MediaTek chipsets and here you can read about the new economic and Jiayu GS3 which also carries one of these. Finally, another example of MediaTek smartphone SoC is the Fairphone, the smartphone created from fair trade.

As we see, the list is extensive and chipsets also quite varied. We find in this list that MediaTek provides SoCs with processors from 0.2 to 1.5 GHz and not only that but these are one to four cores . GPUs that accompany these processors (those bearing) does not fall short of power on most modern chipsets which also include compatibility with all kinds of wireless networks and include Radio and GPS module.

    , stay with your name

conclusion of this extensive publication of what we all realize is that MediaTek is growing in the market of smartphones and tablets and will continue think . Therefore, between the specifications of the most common models begin to familiarize ourselves with the name of this company, MediaTek . This is very positive for mobile device manufacturers since, to increase the supply, demand (including the manufacturers) has slightly more power on the price of the product . Now, end users will benefit from this increased competition? Let hesitation.
