  • With the calendar in hand I struggle to find a week of the last month in which Samsung has not announced any new product. And not only in telephony. Yesterday in London the Korean company took the stage to announce new computers and a camera that at first glance is very interesting.

    They left the stage

half dozen devices, but to highlight, I think, three. The three touch points that we have discussed before here but in neither case has advanced price or availability.

    Ativ Q

Ativ Q is a computer like Acer R7 or some models from Asus and Lenovo is a new format designed to try to reconcile the differences between traditional computing and the Post-PC era. It is a computer with the latest version of Windows 8 operating system but can be configured so that the keyboard is hidden and 13-inch screen takes center stage.

Most interestingly, here are two things. The first is that the screen is of high density. Condenses in these 13 inches 3200 × 1800 pixels. I have not seen live on Q but overall Ativ Windows 8 still does a good job of scaling to such high resolutions, where fonts and icons using the native size quedase would make everything too small (you may correct version 8.1 this) but the second interesting point of this hybrid is that it has two operating systems. Windows also runs a version of Android, which if supported for high density.

Other teams, like the recent Asus Transformer Book Trio, have also committed to the idea of ??the dual system Android and Windows. I wonder if it is a first step towards purely Android devices, even if Google does not seem interested in this type of use.

    Ativ Tab 3

So far the price to pay for having a tablet capable of running a full version of Windows 8, instead of the RT version was heavier, less autonomy and a device much thicker. Ative Tab 3 breaks with this idea. It’s pretty thin -8.2 millimeters and weighs just 550 grams. the screen is 10 inches and has a resolution of 1366 × 768 pixels. It uses the latest generation of Intel Atom processors and according to Samsung is able to last up to eight hours away from the socket. Besides Windows 8 can run Android too. No official price yet, but is rumored to start from $ 699 / EUR. Although a tablet has a wireless keyboard trackpad accessory-free.

    Samsung Galaxy NX

I have not been in London for the announcement but it happens at an event yesterday in New York a few seconds I could test this camera and the first impression is very pleasing. Past attempts to mix Android Samsung Cameras (like the Galaxy Camera), did not quite have the consistency. Some interface elements were moving slowly, for example.

Although I could not test it the Galaxy NX has given me the opposite feeling. It is a very well made, with a fantastic 4.2-inch screen that responds well to the touch and very fast to focus, at least in the room where I could try it-well lit. The NX is a compact mirrorless interchangeable lens with APS-sized sensor C (the same outfit that usually end SLR cameras from pop to and average) of 20 megapixels.

The only weakness I have found is that much depends on the touch screen controls. There is little physical controls to change the capture parameters. Is offset by the possibilities that come with an operating system seriously behind the screen and quick access to editing programs or social networks. Croe not that long before we see other manufacturers photograph taken similar paths, but do so with a different approach.
