How rooting your Android [Part 1 of 2] - PC World in Spanish

Terms of rooteo

Rooting : Rooting means having access to the root of the equipment, ie, you can run the sudo command, and has privileges allowing running applications like Wireless Tether and SetCPU. ROM: A ROM is a modified version of Android. May contain extra features, a look different, speed improvements, or even a version of Android that has not yet been released. ROM will not discuss in depth here.

Flash: Flashing means installing something on your computer, be it a ROM, a kernel, or anything else that comes as a ZIP file. Sometimes the process of rooting requires flashing ZIP file, and sometimes not.

Bootloader: The bootloader is the lowest level of software on the phone, running all the code needed to start the operating system. Recovery: Recovery is the software in the phone that allows backups, flash ROMs, and make other system-level tasks. ADB : It stands for Android Debug Bridge, and is a command line tool for your computer so you can communicate with an Android device connected to it. S-OFF: HTC phones use a feature called HBOOT s ignature verification, your bootloader. Rooting does not require S-OFF, but many rooteo tools also give S-OFF root access, which is very good.

RUU and SBF: Rom Upgrade Utilities (for HTC devices) and System Boot Files (Equipment Motorola) are files directly from the manufacturer to change the phone software. The RUU and SBF are the means by which manufacturers deliver updates over-the-air and modders often post RUU and SBF files leakeados when updates have not yet been released. They are also useful to downgrade the phone, if rooteo method is not available for the latest software update. Can flash the RUU directly from your HTC phone, but Motorola users will need a program that runs in Windows called RSD Lite.
