After being in the mouth of all the kids in the 90s and disappear with his tail between his legs at the beginning of the millennium, virtual reality becomes, ready to make us lose the ridiculous as we enter the VIRTUAL WORLD wonderful. Maybe the new generation of RV pots so do not use an excessive marketing, but the truth is that it is better prepared than the last. Products like Rift Oculus are positioning themselves as the subject of many envious looks , along with other projects more or less professional.

Dive Durovis

is one of those projects, and it is very interesting because leverages the power and possibilities of our Android smartphones. The grace is that it is Durovis more than a platform in which to insert the device, which for now only support the Nexus 4 and 7, the Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Nexus. For now, its creator, Stefan Welker, only graphics engine used in Quake 2 (which code is free) to demonstrate the capabilities of the device.

The display shows the same picture is repeated, so as to pass through the lenses believes that 3D effect we expect. Although it seems a rather simple mechanism, including the ability to adjust the focus of the lens, so it worked is more than it seems . For the movement of the player’s head, it uses the same system of accelerometers, gyroscopes and compasses included in current smartphones. Although judging by the video there is some latency between the movement of the head and the game, the truth is that it is hardly noticeable and should be fine for most players.

Perhaps best of all is the open approach with which its creator has presented us. Even planes have available to create our own if we have access to a 3D printer. But if we do not, we can always wait for the departure of the final version, scheduled for August this year.
