How to sync your iCloud calendars and contacts with ... - Applesfera (blog)

iCloud

One of the first hit we might think that we will have in case of making the jump to Android is the use of certain services, one of the most important for most of us are the calendars and contacts. Apple has managed to play very well your letter and iCloud integration with iOS is so clear and simple that most of us end up making use of the service to handle this type of personal information.

The problem is that while iCloud gets along very well with iOS and OS X devices, the service is not compatible with any other device or system on the market. How can we solve this problem if we want to use an Android device? Well, we have two options:

Keep

iCloud as primary service provider on Android.

The “simple” is to keep iCloud as a service to our calendars and contacts, and when I say “simple” so to speak. Logically, if we have all our information in iCloud it’ll keep it at that location and only attempt to make “compatible” with Android data.

“There is an app for that”

Apple boasts

interesting applications in its App Store, Google should do the same on your store but bragging about the number of applications available to the store to try to imitate, copy and implement functions of iOS on Android. Two such applications are:

    • SmoothSync for calendars. This application allows you to add an account to iCloud calendar as an account that can be accessed from any application.
    • SmoothSync for contacts. The other “brother” of main application allows us to synchronize our contacts with the agenda of the ends and again make visible these contacts for any system application.

The interesting thing is that both applications two apps are not isolated from the rest of the system that allow us to access our data in iCloud, are two applications that make up the service of Apple’s core system and therefore allow any application to access this information.

Both also allow synchronization in both directions so we can modify the iCloud account from our team and we can access Android changes from an iOS device.

This is the “perfect” unfortunately both applications have bugs and in particular the application of Calendars is a bit “Russian roulette” because Timetables tend to disappear after a few days … somewhat inexplicable.

    Mix

iCloud and Google accounts depending on the device being used.

    iCal

enter this field can be quite complicated, the reason are problems we can have with the duplication of content and especially the one-way synchronization.

    Mix

your Google account to iCloud is relatively simple, we only follow the following steps:

    Access

    • or iCal Calendars on your Mac
    • Select the option: subscribe to a calendar.
    • iCal will ask for directions URL , said direction of our Google calendar can be found in the calendar settings in calendar.google.com. under “Calendar Details”.
    • iCal again and enter this address URL .
    • Ready! Now our events will be part of Google Calendar iCal calendar.

The main problem with this is that synchronization occurs only in one direction, so we can only see the entire calendar from iCloud account and therefore from a device that supports the protocol.

device that makes use of the Google account can only access the content. The solution is not ideal but at least allows us to centralize everything in our computer.
