After the release of Android Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, January 16, Samsung announced on Thursday the complete list of devices that will receive Android 7.0 during the first half of the year.

The models confirmed are (in addition to the S7): Galaxy S6, Galaxy S6 Edge, Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy Tab (with S Pen), samsung Galaxy Tab S2 model (LTE unlocked), Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A8.

If your device is not on this list, that does not mean that you will not receive a Nougat, but that will not be updated during the first half of the year — although you may receive the update in the second part of the year.

The release of Nougat for the Galaxy phones from Samsung is a good news for users, for Samsung and for Google. This version of the operating system takes around half a year of availability and has not yet been installed in either the 1 percent of devices in the Android ecosystem, according to figures from Google.

in Addition, Samsung will be one of the manufacturers that most phones have upgraded to a Nougat. Other companies have already updated their devices to Nougat, but only one or two models. In this case, Samsung will update ten of their cell phones, and tablets.

what’s New with Android Nougat

Now, you install a Nougat is not only a fashion. The operating system includes a number of major developments, such as a new interface for notifications that allows responses from the notification itself, a panel redesigned for quick settings and multi-window to have two applications running at the same time, among many other things.

Nougat in the Galaxy also enables a new mode of performance that sets up the components of the device for different modes of use: from video games, Web browsing, until a mode to improve the battery life.

finally, Nougat brings a unique feature for the S7: Samsung’s Pass, a method of authentication that works as a master key to enter Web sites from Samsung Internet, the search engine native to the cell. Soon, Samsung Pass will work as a method of authentication in banking transactions.
