As promised, Samsung began this Thursday to meet its promise to launch Android Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge from January.

Today, a number of specialized media and trust, including SamMobile and Android Police, confirmed that both models of the S7 are receiving Android Nougat bars (7.0), both for the users registered in the program of beta, as for users who were on Android Marshmallow (6.0).

The download of Android Nougat for the cousins S7 can be done from the mobile device thanks to that it is an OTA update (or Over The Air, no need to connect the phone to another device).

The site SamMobile says that the update weighs about 300MB for the users registered in the beta program. For those who do not, the update should weigh around 1GB.

SamMobile notes that the version of Nougat enabled this morning is Android 7.0, despite of the belief that Samsung would enable the version 7.1.1 not to lag, and give your users the newer version. Nougat 7.1.1 is already in the hands of users of a Pixel or of a Nexus supported.

At the close of last December, Samsung announced the closing of the beta program after starting in November. The program was focused to users with early adopters that they wanted to put their hands on a Nougat, running on a S7 as soon as possible; in return, users had to report bugs, or failure of stability.

The fact that the S7 and S7 Edge –two of the Android phones are better sold in 2016– begin to receive Nougat is good news for the ecosystem. The adoption of Nougat, half a year of availability, is just between 0.2 and 0.5 percent adoption, depending on the version.
