HTC One A9, analysis: make an iPhone with Android was not as … – Gizmodo in Spanish

HTC One A9, an & # XE1; lysis: make an iPhone with Android was not such a good idea

The average range is the new battlefield where manufacturers have engaged in a real fight in the mud by placing the best specifications at the lowest price. The HTC One A9 reaches the battlefield dressed in their finery, but with few weapons.

What is it?

The latest release from a company that has had it rough lately . Instead of launching a new top model, HTC has opted to present a stylish midrange wrapped in polished aluminum and with a view to market straddling technology and fashion.

Why is it important?

Because it is a golden opportunity for HTC to take hold in the mid-range. Is also its new flagship, the champion who will represent the company in the coming months.

The HTC One A9 is sonrojantemente like iPhone 6, at least in its silver and gold versions. The (almost black, actually) and red dark gray models hide some more. That said, let the issue of similarity in the hands of the legal teams of both companies, if applicable, and analyze the HTC as it is, a midrange Android packaged in a spectacular bundle, but with less muscle than you should . The version we reviewed, by the way, is the one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of hard disk

Design

Is a nice A9 HTC One smartphone? Yes, a lot, and not because they resemble the iPhone. The design of Apple’s smartphone has never seemed particularly beautiful to begin with. It is nice because its construction makes it feel nice. Double aluminum finish makes it pleasant to hold. Fancy handling it.

It also has a measured size in that forest of redwoods that is the current smartphone market. HTC’s good work when filing frames around the screen results in a dimension of only 145.75 x 70.8 x 7.26 mm and 143 grams. Note affection in solving together and integrate components such as buttons on the sides.

Display

A 5-inch AMOLED Full HD 1080P resolution. A cap shine the colors look great, but battery consumption advises leave in automatic mode, rather more discreet. The sharpness is also very good. Certainly there are better screens, but integrate a’d gone through the roof the price and had fattened on the processor and battery, two elements in the HTC One A9 are fair.

Processor and memory

One A9 is inside a Qualcomm Snapdragon 617, eight-core and 64 bits. Four cores running at 1.5 GHz, and the other 4 x 1.2 GHz. It is supported by 2GB of RAM for the 16GB model, or 3GB for the model 32.

hardware configuration is not bad, but it’s not high end. It closely resembles, for example, the Motorola Moto X Play. It’s almost like the LG Nexus 5X better finished pro worse processor and less battery.

The HTC One A9 is fine as long as you do not porta we force. The most demanding 3D games give you trouble, and something tells me that these little hiccups will not improve with time.

Storage

The A9 internal memory is 16 or 32GB, but a 6GB are already occupied by the operating system and applications. Buyer’s model 16, you will remain 10 for storing content.

Fortunately, the A9 has a MicroSD card slot for up to 2TB. Before taking cheers should consider a MicroSD 128GB and cost about 60 euros. The 200GB SanDisk costs 200, and we have not been able to find any MicroSD 2TB. In sum, the figure is cracking down on paper. Nothing else. For when you get cards that capacity probably you changed your mobile.

The fingerprint sensor

Very good job here by HTC. After configuring (up four fingers) unlocks the phone at a tremendous speed. It has never failed us, but in the unlikely event that you do it, you can always manually enter the numeric code or unlock pattern we have chosen. When the terminal is restarted requested anyway.

House

With 13 megapixel camera HTC One A9 abandoned experiments HTC and other mobile plant is in a comfortable medium term. The Ultrapixel remains to give life to the front camera.

For the first contact, A9 One camera seemed like lightening tearing both focusing and sealing. Now I know why. There was light. As photons leave us, the focusing system takes a long time to find the image and the shutter too. The burst mode also makes the terminal take a moment to record photos. The backlit sensor does a good job explaining the bright spots in night shots, but that does not stop the noise, especially if we pull zoom.

Does this mean that the camera of the HTC One A9 is bad? In all, if we are patient and we got used to the controls we take pictures pretty decent. In good light conditions or macro mode has nothing to envy of other high-end devices. With just 7.26 mm thick you can not do much more. Here are some photos taken with the HTC One A9 to full size and untreated.

The backlight manages to get much more light in dark shots, but does not prevent noise (see church).

Macro mode is fine, but the approach by contrast is not always right.

Excellent sound (with headphones)

The HTC One A9 is a very good choice if you’re looking for is a smartphone for music at all hours. Integrates an audio chip scaling to 24 bits and 192kHz with DSP and DAC fairly efficient. In Christian he is able to select digital sound sources and clean to serve a clear and powerful sound. In our case we tested with Spotify to the highest possible quality and with three headphones, which comes standard, a V-Moda Crossfade M100, and a Bowers & amp; Wilkins C5.

As expected, the native headphones are nothing fancy. Serious abuse and distort something if we spend with volume, but when plugging high-end headphones, the One A9 comes alive. The sound is powerful, clean and very warm. For a smartphone, it is not bad.

The only but is that the HTC One A9 is designed for use headphones. M9 two speakers have given way to one that detracts quite the audio quality of the phone. Okay for the ringer, but not for music.

Battery

The A9 incorporates a battery of 2,150 mAh. It is little. The bad news is that, just as we connect to WiFi and 3G, we will stand by the hair the day of rigor. The design and thickness are especially primed autonomy. The good news is that the charging system (with own charger) leaves it ready for action in just over an hour.

is MicroUSB charging cable and the charger is not particularly small. I mention this because if you try to load it into a charging station or another charger is not compatible with Qualcomm QuickCharge 2.0 (3.0 with update), the charging time is eternalize.

Pricing and Availability

The HTC is already available in Europe and the United States at a price of 479 € (16GB) and 579 €. US price will be $ 399 (16GB), but only until November 7. Then go to $ 499.

HTC One A9, an & # XE1; lysis: make an iPhone with Android was not such a good idea

It is a cheap price when compared with high-end such as its predecessor, the HTC One M9. The problem is that it is a fairly high price for a mid-range for excellent workmanship many you have.

We like

  • The metal construction and finishes. It’s a nice phone, especially in red or black.
  • The fingerprint scanner is very fast and convenient to use
  • The sound with headphones is very clean. It is good phone for music lovers.

We hate

  • The battery is a little tight for a whole day. If you are someone who do a very intensive you will be exhausted before the end of the day.
  • The processor is a midrange. It falls short when it comes to tasks requiring muscle.
  • The price is above the current average range.

I buy it?

Good question. Are you one of those who give much value to the aesthetics of a phone and do not mind spending a little more than a midrange account? If the answer is yes, the HTC One A9 is your Android.

HTC One A9, an & # XE1; lysis: make an iPhone with Android was not such a good idea

The problem is that A9 One sits in the diffuse market segment targeting fashion enthusiasts and people who give more importance to the aesthetics of the terminal to your specifications, a segment in which we saw the Samsung Galaxy A5.

If you’re a fan of the ROMs and get juice to Android, the HTC One A9 will be small. If you want a mid-range, there are much cheaper options ranging from the Moto X Play (395 euros) to One Plus 2 (330 €) or Huawei Honor in July (350 €). If you want a powerful terminal at an affordable price, the new Nexus X costs exactly the same (479 €) and has better processor and battery. HTC has done a good phone, but if you want to sell handfuls need more (or slightly less in the price tag).
